Prior to his appointment as Professor of European Archaeology, Chris Gosden’s Oxford career started (in 1994) as a curator-lecturer at the Pitt Rivers Museum, working on the history of collections and their relevance to post-colonial relations and identity.
In addition to writing books and running research projects, most recently on the history of the English landscape and on Celtic art, Chris has undertaken archaeological fieldwork, including in Papua New Guinea, Borneo and Turkmenistan.
Chris is a fellow of a number of learned societies, including the British Academy, and a trustee of the Art Fund, and the British Museum.
